2015 Garden Party & Home Tour
THE PASS CHRISTIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY PRESENTS THE 2015 GARDEN PARTY & HOME TOUR
Visitors to this year’s Pass Christian Historical Society’s Garden Party will have the opportunity to tour a more than 150-year-old Scenic Drive home that exemplifies the mid-19th century coastal “cottage” style. The event will be held at the home of Charlotte Christman, 849 East Scenic Drive, on Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m.
“Les Palmiers” was built in the late 1840s as a summer cottage for a prominent New Orleans family. This historic, raised Greek Revival home sits on six acres overlooking the Mississippi Sound on property once owned by Pierre Saucier. During this year’s tour, guests will have an opportunity to see inside this exquisitely restored and decorated multi-level home, including its twin parlors, magnificent master suite and “sunken” family room.
Guests are also invited to explore the carefully maintained grounds, which include a guest cottage, stable, greenhouse and gazebo, and enjoy the Gulf breeze on the sweeping front porch with its unique octagonal columns and decorative iron railings.
Docents will be available with architectural and historical information throughout the home. Visitors will be given a tour program. Refreshments will be provided by the Society’s members, and there will also be music and “Gatsby croquet” on the front lawn.
Tickets are $25 per person and available for sale in advance at www.passhistory.org and at Pass Christian Books/Cat Island Coffeehouse (located at 300 E. Scenic Drive in downtown Pass Christian). Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event.
Proceeds of this event support the Pass Christian Historical Society, which for almost 50 years has worked to preserve and share the history of Pass Christian and the Gulf Coast.
Tickets will also be sold on the day of the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pass Christian Yacht Club. Garden Party ticket holders may attend Sunday brunch at PCYC, which is ordinarily open only to members and their guests. Credit cards are accepted for brunch ($17.95+tax), and reservations are recommended (PCYC: 228-452-2571).
